Psychosis (Schizophrenia)

About one precent of the population in the United Stated struggles with schizophrenia (one of the psychotic disorders) but it is not uncommon for many people to experience visual and/or auditory hallucinations, paranoia and delusions. Often, prolonged exposure to traumatic events, single traumas or early childhood abuse and neglect can cause symptoms, similar to those experienced by schizophrenics.
There are very few counselors, who accept people, diagnosed with schizophrenia, in therapy. I do. I believe in the importance of early intervention and collaborative work with the treating psychiatrist to ensure quality of care and an improved quality of life.
I work with people, who struggle with:
  • Childhood psychosis
  • First or second-psychotic break
  • Psychosis in adolescence
  • Delusions
  • Hallucinations
  • Young adults with psychosis
