Parenting

Someone once said to me that “Parenting is the most rewarding job out there.” To that, I would add “and the most challenging one.” There is no school on how to be a good parent and how to cope with the stresses parenting puts on you and your partner, if you have one. If parenting does not feel like the most rewarding job at the moment and you feel stuck, have questions, thoughts or concerns about your child or teenager, counseling may be beneficial to you and/or your partner. Some of the areas that I offer parent support include:
  • Parenting skills
  • Parent communication
  • Setting limits
  • Consequences
  • Family routines
  • Parent discord
  • Sibling disagreements
  • Adjusting to motherhood
  • Adjusting to fatherhood
  • Adoption
  • Divorce

Maybe you are not quite ready to take that step and make an appointment just yet. In that case, check out my Parenting Blog, where parents find helpful resources and practical tips on how to support their child and adolescent’s behavioral and emotional development. Better yet, subscribe to Mental Health Digest – my free monthly, easy-to-read electronic magazine on common mental health issues affecting you and your family plus some suggestions on how to address them. Have a parenting question? Email me and I will be happy to respond to your concerns.
